Prepares patients, equipment, and materials used in diagnostic procedures.Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient’s understanding and cooperation.Performs exercise, cardiac, nuclear, pharmaceutical, echo stress tests, monitor testing and analysis, and EKGs as prescribed. Prepares preliminary reports for final interpretation by the cardiologist.Recognizes chest pain, arrhythmias, life-threatening arrhythmias associated with stress testing, and responds/obtains appropriate and immediate assistance as needed. Identifies abnormal/critical EKG findings and immediately notifies physician.Ensures an accurate and readable recording using deductive reasoning to troubleshoot minor problems, make adjustments as needed during the procedure, and prepare recording for interpretation.Assists with activities to improve department processes, facilitate testing, and maintain quality to achieve optimal patient results.Minimum EducationHigh School Graduate or Equivalent requiredBachelors Degree preferredMinimum Work ExperienceTwo years of hospital or large practice-based exercise stress testing experience preferred.Minimum of two years of telemetry experience preferred.2-5 years of experience in office-based cardiology department preferred.Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
